The DPC Annual Meeting was held last evening (12/02/2025) for the purpose of canvassing votes from the annual election process. The following individuals were elected to Board seats:
· Jeff Beach
· Carina Randolph
· Ed Daude
· Todd Lazarowski
· Jeff Brinch
· David Gradney
The following Board members were elected club officers:
· Wayne Dobbs, President
· Jeff Beach, Vice President
· Madeline Maggard, Secretary
· Ed Daude, Treasurer
Following these actions, the Board undertook a serious discussion over club financial matters that have arisen in the past several months that have been extremely concerning. Specifically, we have been confronted with a near doubling of property and casualty insurance premiums for club property and structures. Ed Daude and Madeline Maggard have done extensive research and expended much effort to find a solution to this issue. After all that effort, we as a board were forced into a situation where we had to forego coverage of the club’s concrete barrier walls against wind damage and other similar destructive events to maintain coverage of the rest of the facility at a price that wasn’t out of reach.
This decision was not reached easily. We have also decided, at this juncture, to curtail most, if not all, capital expenditure over the next few years to build a self-insurance funded position against loss or damage to the walls or other facility structures. This will not impact on the regular operating and maintenance expenses that we do to keep the club in excellent condition and full operation. We are not in any financial trouble (so long as we don’t have a damaging wind event), but we realize that we must take long term steps to protect the club’s interests.
The Board specifically wanted to avoid a membership dues increase, but we are going to have to stop absorbing the required Texas state sales tax on membership dues payments.
Therefore, the Board unanimously adopted a motion to begin collecting sales tax on membership dues effective January 1, 2026. The sales tax on membership dues will amount to about $38 on regular memberships, $28 on senior dues and $8.25 on associate dues.
This Board is always deeply focused on our fiduciary duties to the club and its members and while we don’t like some of the actions forced on us by economic circumstances, we will always do our very best to adhere to those duties and to protect this club.
