Dear Fellow Dallas Pistol Club Members,
I want to thank you for your continued support of the Dallas Pistol Club through your member dues, your participation in Club matches and other events such as Tac-Con and the GSSF (Glock) Match, and through your volunteer efforts for those of you called to generously share your time and talents with our all-volunteer organization. I also want to share with you a summary of the financial position of the Club, its financial needs going forward, and the impact on its members.
The Club is in good shape physically and financially, following the Board’s decision several years ago to plan not just for our immediate needs and desires, but to invest for future development with the safety of our members, guests, and neighboring community the overarching concern. The Board has set aside money for future contingencies and saves money each year for larger capital projects while currently investing in the Club’s safety needs and the comfort of our members and guests.
Over the last three years, the Club has invested over $300,000 in capital projects, including construction of Bays 6 and 7, flex base in all the action bays and surrounding areas and roads, capital maintenance of existing structures, the redevelopment of berms, and other items. During those three years, the Board has resisted raising member dues, with the last increase occurring in early 2021. As you are no doubt aware, the cost of everything has gone up, and the Dallas Pistol Club has not been spared from inflation. In just the past two-year period, our total operational costs have increased over 15% even after successful negotiation of lower insurance and maintenance expenses.
The Board of Directors therefore recently determined that it would increase member dues for the upcoming calendar year, 2024, when the new revenue cycle begins on January 1. We would all prefer to maintain dues at the current level, but to help pay for the increased cost of capital and operational expenses, the following dues schedule will be in effect beginning January 1, 2024:
Regular Member (up to age 60): $460 (formerly $425)
Senior Member (age 60 and older): $340 (formerly $315)
Associate Member: $100 (formerly $50)
Note that the due date for the 2024 dues cycle begins January 1 but goes through February 1. Be sure to have your payment information up to date in MemberPlanet, as your payment method will be charged on February 1. Payments made after February 1 but before March 1 will incur a higher level of dues: plus $60 for Regular Members, plus $50 for Senior Members, and plus $15 for Associate Members. If you have not paid on or before February 28, your gate code will be permanently suspended and you must reapply to the Club for membership, pay the initiation fee, and go through orientation.
Thank you for your attention, and as always, we encourage you to attend a Board meeting on the first Tuesday of each month (except for the January meeting on the 9th) should you have any issues you wish to bring before the Board.
