Benchrest 22 Precision Rifle


The 50-yard benchrest .22 precision match will test the shooter’s ammunition, equipment and ability to adjust for wind conditions. Occasionally we may also hold 100-yard matches. This match is limited by the number of benches to twelve shooters per heat. We will run up to 3 heats, accommodating up to 36 registrants.

Matches will be held on the 1st Saturday of each month - Setup begins at 9am sharp.

Course of fire
•7:45am - Gate opens for non-member access. Gate closes at 8:55am.
•9:00am - Registration and set-up. Any non-member, including spectators, who did not sign-up on Practiscore will need to complete the DPC waiver.
Targets and target stands are provided. Shooters, as a group, will set-up twelve target stands on the marked positions at the 50-yard line. After roll call, collection of registration fees and the safety briefing, shooters will be assigned to a squad and a bench position (Practiscore assignments are tentative due to no-shows and walk-ons). Shooters may then put up a target on the stand for their position. Shooters are encouraged to deploy wind flags and vanes between the shooting bench and their targets.
•9:30am - Warm up. Once the line has been declared "hot", rifles may be uncased and warm-up may proceed.
•9:45am - Match begins. Shooters will have 20 minutes to complete the course of fire.
-- Scope targets are IBS Rimfire 50-yard targets that consist of 25 small bullseyes and 4 sighters per target; The scope target is 25 shots for record; one shot per bullseye. Unlimited shots on sighter targets, not for record, may be shot before and during the match (see image below).
-- Iron sight targets are NRA A23/5 Smallbore targets that consist of 4 large bullseyes and 1 sighter per target. The iron sights match is 20 shots for record; 5 shots on each of the bullseye targets. Unlimited sighters, not for record, may be shot before and during the match (see image below).
•10:05am - First match ends; all rifles are cased, or bolts are removed and chambers are flagged, the range is inspected and declared "cold"; shooters may then go down range and score targets. When scoring is complete, new targets may be put up for the next match.
•10:25am - Second match warm-up
•10:40am - Second match begins
•11:00am - Second match ends; score targets and tear down
Scoring
~IBS Rules: best edge scoring, i.e. touch the center dot scores an X, touch outside of 10-ring scores 10, and so on. Shots outside of the marked target score zero. If there is more than the required number of shots on the target, the lowest score shot is counted. Ties are broken by the X count. Mark your target with your name or initials and check to make sure you do not crossfire on a neighboring target.
Equipment
Equipment is unlimited. You will need a .22 caliber rimfire rifle & .22LR Standard Velocity ammo (<1100 FPS) required. Any .22 rimfire rifle and any type of rest(s) are acceptable as long as it is safe. The Match Director has the final say.
Initial class divisions are: Unlimited, Factory+ and Factory; plus, Scope or Iron sights (including non-magnified red dot sights). Your equipment class will be noted with scores.
We have a wide range of equipment in use at our matches. Compare your results to shooters with similar equipment.
Hearing and eye protection are required. A chamber flag is required. Any brightly colored item that fits in the chamber can be a flag. i.e. weed trimmer line, cable-ties, etc.
